June 20, 2020 – the day Royal Family Kids Anchorage planned to begin its 16th year of camp.
Earlier this year camp was canceled due to health concerns, so today, a team of volunteers gathered and put in work to create:
- 66 backpacks full of gifts
- 54 care packages to donate to OCS to support foster families
- The logistics to ensure all of these gifts get to the right places!
What a wonderful team effort! We will be giving a backpack packed with gifts to each camper that would have been eligible to return to camp this year, along with a handmaid fleece blanket for each.
Together as a team, we prayed a blessing over the backpacks as they will be sent out in efforts to lift the spirits of our campers who are missing out on week at camp this year. With camp not able to happen, we wanted to send the message: “You are not forgotten” by Royal Family or by God.
In addition, each camper is receiving at least FIVE letters written by various RFK staff members. Wow! Even with camp being canceled, our team has stepped up and met the needs in whatever way we can. What a blessing it is for us to serve in such a needed part of our community. Nothing will stop us from spreading the love of Christ to children in Alaska foster care!
